Little Terra

Realist Painting

This is a drawing of Starr's little granddaughter Terra. The drawing is similar to portrait drawing , although not literally, in which Starr sees much of herself in Terra, as well as a lot of Starr's mother and grandmother also. They were among many of the great women of Starr's family, who became successful musicians, singers, artists, actresses, and most important of all, great mothers! Starr quotes, “I see all of these wonderful traits in Terra.”

The book displayed is the story of “The Velveteen Rabbit”. Starr states, “My mother read this story to me many times, and she always taught me it was better to have a good and honest heart than to l have a pretty face. The horses drawing on the cloth signify hope!

Little Spencer

Realist Painting

This is a drawing , more like a portrait drawing of Starr's grandson Spencer. Family is very important to Starr, and Spencer gives her hope that the family will truly live on in him. The horses drawing represent that hope. The book Spencer is holding represents knowledge. Spencer has love for animals, and this is depicted on the book.

The Angel

Realist Painting

The little girl in the drawing portrays Starr. When only five years old she saved a kitten from certain death. She was always helping the lost and forgotten. Her Mother use to call her "little angel". Starr would dream about her fantasy pets. They were her friends. Many of her paintings depict stories with animals. The little model is a daughter of a dear friend; Lana's love for animals is evident.
